Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan Repair

Hampton Bay Ceiling Fans are very durable and reliable ceiling fans. These fans do not typically break down due to normal use, though at some point, most appliances will need repair at some point.  But, because of their reliability, a Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan is a great choice for a ceiling fan.

Repair Solutions for Hampton Bay Ceiling Fans

If you do need to repair your Hampton Bay fan, then the first place to go is to your local Home Depot store. The reason? Hampton Bay is Home Depot’s store brand. The nice thing about Hampton Bay being Home Depot’s store brand is that you have a very reputable company standing behind the brand. There is also a good chance that you are in convenient driving distance to a Home Depot. This is especially nice if you have a warranty claim.

As mentioned above, it is unlikely that your Hampton Bay ceiling fan will fail, but if it does, the repair could be quite simple. A simple repair could be something like balancing or replacing a fan blade. A more complicated repair may be something like replacing the motor or installing a new capacitor. Then, somewhere in between would be replacing the pull chain, replacing the light kit, or installing a new thermostatic wall switch.

Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan Repair Services & Solutions

If you find that your Hampton Bay fan is simply not working, one of the first things to check is the pull chain. But first…does your ceiling fan have a light kit?  If so, does the light kit work and not the ceiling fan… or vice versa? If the light kits works, but the ceiling fan does not, perhaps the pull chain controlling the ceiling fan got stuck? Depending upon the position of the pull chain, this could cause other fan controls not to work (i.e. wall switch). If your pull chain is stuck, you can usually maneuver it around to get it loose. Of course, if it gets stuck regularly, you should probably replace it. If both the ceiling fan and the light kit do not work, you may want to check your circuit breaker. This is simple to check in your circuit breaker box.  If you find that your circuit breaker blows often, it is probably a good idea to have a licensed electrician check things out for you as you likely have issues in the room other than your ceiling fan. If the ceiling fan and light kit are not working and you recently installed them, you may have an issue with wiring into the room or with the connection between the ceiling fan and the household electric.

If you light kit is not working, but your ceiling fan works fine, it is likely an electrical connection between the ceiling fan and the light kit. The only way to see this for sure is to disconnect the light kit from the fan and double check the wiring. Are all connections made as explained in the installation instructions? Are all wire connections secure and tight? Sometimes a wire can work loose over time if not properly secured during the original installation.

Remember, prior to attempting any ceiling fan or light kit repairs, that you take proper precautions and read and follow any and all instructions that came with your Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan or light kit.

Where can I purchase a light kit to replace the one I have on my brass Hampton Bay ceiling fan? ONe of the light sockets does not work and I want to replace the light kit, or is this something an electrician can repair?

hi, my remote does wierd things, it will NOT turn on the top light but will turn on the bottom light. it is model 07078T..however when I turn OFF the bottom light it will advance the speed of the fan, but if I turn fan OFF it will turn off and if I select the lowest fan speed it will work, but if I hit the lower light then it moves the fan to the next speed.. Do I need to replace the remote.. another remote I have for the same fan works perfectly and controls all the lights appropriately.. HOW DO I ORDER NEW REMOTES, AND HOW MUCH DO THEY COST.. PLEASE AND THANK YOU

I try to be a do-it-myself type, but I have had to replate the motor capacitor & switch on a Hampton Bay snall 6 blade fan. I need a wiring diagram telling me which goes to what. The wire colors from the new capacitor are not the same as the old.
Would appreciate any help or advice…I like the fan & would hate to trash it.

I have a Hampton Bay fan that has a yellowy globe on it and I wanted to replace it with a white
one and it has two pull chains. I found a white globe at Lowe’s, however, the pull chain holes did not line up making it impossible to install. I went to Home Depot and they said to contact you.
I do not know the model number. Do you have a white cover that has two holes for the chains and if so could you send it to me.

I had a similar problem with globe retro fit. One of the holes did not line up, so I used a port and polishing kit for metal work to slot the hole. It takes patience, time, and hot soapy water for lubricating the sanding cone. I can provide photos of the item used and the slotted glass globe if you like.

My remote has been working fine for two years. Now when I hit the reverse direction button on the remote it will not reverse the fan direction. When hitting the reverse remote button the fan speed will slightly increase, and then slow back down to its normal function. I haven’t tried, but thought about trying to change codes in the remote and sensor. Any other ideas?

Reply

Admin January 25, 2013 at 1:02 PM

We would not recommend changing the codes. To save yourself time, you may want to place a call to HamptonBay Technical support, 1-877-527-0313. They will help you identify the correct serial number of your ceiling fan and the remote control, and will help with a correct diagnosis.

I used the quick release button at the bottom of the glass on my light assembly to change the bulbs. Now I cannot get it to click fully back into place. I use the button as described in the manual, but cannot get it to click up to the second ‘bead’. It only grabs the first bead. I have tried lining up the ‘L1′, ‘W’, and ‘G’ on both pieces, but still cannot get it to click bank in flush to the bottom of the fan assembly. It seems to be a puzzle of sorts and is driving me a bit nuts. any help you can offer is much appreciated!

Reply

Admin January 25, 2013 at 1:05 PM

It is possible something got caught in the track that is preventing the glass to get seated properly again. Also, try to be sure the glass is “square” to the mounting plate. As strange as it seems, a slight jiggle when trying to get the beads or tabs to engage can sometimes help.

Here is a video that shows you how to basically repair the pull chain switch. The one the guy is doing in the video is for the light switch, you would need to replace the other one for the speed control. Write down the way the wires are connected so you will wire them back the same way you remove them when you do the job. It is a pretty easy fix, if you have any dyi experience…

Help! Our 3 Hampton Bay ceiling light/fan combo’s all stopped working at the same time. The breakers are fins, the electricity has been checked and is fine, and the remotes have new batteries and the red lights come on. But the fan’s and the lights do not work. They worked fine until one week ago and them all three of them quit and will not work. What should we do to get them working again????

Reply

This sounds like it has to be some sort of electrical issue. It is highly unlikely that three ceiling fans would stop working simultaneously.

I have a HB fan mounted on a beam about 25 feet up. The fan has a wireless remote kit on it and the wireless has stopped working. Two questions:
1. How do I know the problem is the wireless remote and not the fan?
2. Assuming it is the wireless, can I just hard wire a fan/light switch into the wall, or will this not work since the transmitter/receiver kit will still be on the fan.
I am trying to figure a way to do this without getting on a tall ladder/scaffolding.

I’m fairly certain I have a Hampton Bay ceiling fan. Based on images it appears to be one. It was installed by a restoration company that will not return my emails or calls.

I’m having trouble with what I think is the receiver in the unit. We have a wall switch that sends power to the unit and when it is on the fan spins. The remote however no longer controls the speed or lights. There is no chain. Where can I find the serial/model number to make sure I’m searching for the right part? Also so I can find the manual online so I can take it apart and make the the replacement.

Thank you!

My HB Winward II transmitter, model FAN-9T, sometimes doesn’t make contact and its not untill I hit it hard against my hand that it does so as if there was a loose contact. On ocasions it displays the fan on or light on mode in the screen but the fan doesn’t move nor the light turn on. I bought it at a local HD store less than two years ago but they were unable to help me. Taking the fan down and to the store for the Manager to decide -most likely that there’s nothing he can do- is not a reasonable option. I think the problem is in the transmitter. Please advise what to do.

When we turn it on the fan starts spinning but no lights. When the power is engaged and I try to use the remote to turn on the lights nothing happens. When I try to change the fan speed, nothing happens. Replaced the batteries and light bulbs. No change.

There is no pull chain on this model.

What do I need to do to fix this and are their directions available to do it?

About 2 years ago I noticed when engaging the fans with the remote, one of the fans turned on fine, but the other would not initially start, but after a few minutes, it would engage. This went on for a few months, but eventually the one fan stopped working. About 2 months later the other fan started the same process and eventually stopped working. Keep in mind that the lights work fine. I can hear a slight “click” on the fans when I try to engage them with the remote, but no movement. Any suggestions?

When I pull the chain for the fan switch, it runs very slow-very slow-very slow-off. Is there a switch that needs replacing, or is it the capacitor?

Your issue sounds like it could be the capacitor or the motor. To be sure, you should contact Hampton Bay Technical Support. They will be able to help you properly diagnose the issue you are having. And, they will also be able to help in obtaining the correct replacement part for your ceiling fan.

My fan is working but lights is not working, can you tellme how i check wiring for light?Thank you.

Admin April 11, 2013 at 10:31 AM

Is this a new issue, or have your just installed the fan and this is the problem? If this is a new ceiling fan installation with a light kit, or simply adding a new light kit to your existing ceiling fan, it is likely a wiring issue. If the fan and light have been working fine already, nothing changed, and now the lights are not working … you should consider contacting Hampton Bay Technical Support. They can be reached at 1-877-527-0313.

Hi. My fan works but the lights don’t work. I have a feeling it has something to do with the Remote sensor because when I move the sensor around to chek the wires, the light would turn on some times, then when i put it back to the original position inside the housing, it wouldn’t work. One time i even moved it an inch or two and it turned on. Is it possible that the remote sensor needs to be replaced? Seems like hit or miss.

My ceiling fan does not work on slow speed. Sometimes I can get it started by running a higher speed for a minute, then going to lower. It will run for awhile then stops.

I purchased a home that has a hampton bay ceiling fan in one of the bedrooms. There are no cords and the fan and light can only be operated by the remote. Light works fine but for some reason fan runs only in highest speed. When I push the button for low or medium I can hear a clicking noise but the fan keeps running on highest speed. Is that a bad capacitor switch I could replace? If so, where could I find the part and instructions on how to replace it?
Thank you.

Your diagnosis could be correct. The problem with your fan not responding properly to the remote control could be the capacitor in the fan, but it could also be the receiver. For additional assistance in correctly identifying the issue, you should contact Hampton Bay technical support at 1-877-527-0313. Their hours are M-F 8:00 AM – 6PM EST.

I have 5 outdoor fans. They are 52 inch white with plastic blades. Some of the fan blade brackets have broken and I need to get replacements. I have tried the one at the local lowes but they are different and won’t work. Any help finding replacements would be appreciated and the fans were installed when the house was built and I have no idea what model they are,

how do Iaccess blade attachment on motor housing. Blades are loose, cannot access from bottom of housing like on most fans. Fan has been hanging about 8 yrs.

It is difficult to answer your question regarding how to access the where the blades attach under the housing without either knowing the model of your ceiling fan, or seeing it. There should be a way to remove the cover to gain access to the screws holing the ceiling fan blade arms. Look for mounting screws, or the cover may twist off with a 1/4 turn or similar. You may also choose to contact Hampton Bay Technical Support at (877) 527-0313. They can be reached between 8:00AM to 6:00PM during the week.

I have an older ceiling fan that operates on remote only, no pill chain or switch on the fan. I replaced a light bulb on the unit, hear a “pop”, then fan stopped working, both fan and light stopped working? What could be the cause?

I have two problems with my Hamton Bay Fan Lights. I have the dame model in my 4 bedrooms. I recently replaced the burnt out bulbs (40W) with 60W equivalent energy saving bulbs. One (in 1 fan)/ two (in 2 fans) of the lights in the light fixture is not working. In previous occasions, I have replaced them with 40W bulbs still few of them won’t work, So replacing the bulbs with 60W equivalent should not be an issue (please correct me if I am wrong). The fourth fan (of which 2 sockets are not working) did not turn on the light when replaced with the 60W equivalent energy saving bulb but the working old 40W bulbs is turning on. This fan lights were flickering sometimes in the past. I would appreciate any expertise help.

I have three Hampton Bay fans with remotes that aren’t working right. I called Home Depot and they said they don’t have people that repair the fans. Is there some other company I can contact to get these fans working. I replaced all the batteries in the remote control units. One does run at one speed but no light…one doesn’t light or run and one lights and only runs at full speed.

I have a Hampton Bay lighted ceiling fan, the pull chain for the light constantly gets stuck and now won’t work at all. Fan is not under warranty, but this has been an ongoing problem since purchase. Pull chain goes down the center of fan and I see no way of easily accessing it. Hawkins 44in. #122 855

I have a Hampton Bay Model AC-527 Celing Fan/Light with remote control. It has worked fine until a few weeks ago when the fan stopped working. The light turns on/off and dims with the remote….but the fan will not work at any speed in forward or reverse. I reset the codes on the remote and the receiver, and that did not fix the problem. Any suggestions? Is it possible that the remote could be bad, even though it still controls the light fine?

Just purchased and installed a Hampton Bay ceiling fan/light. Fan works fine, but not the light. In the instructions provided, it says to connect the white wire from the switch housing to the white wire from the light kit fitter. Also, connect the blue wire from the switch housing to the black wire from the light kit fitter. The connectors are only on the white and black wires in each assembly. Cannot connect blue, so connected white to whit and black to black. Could it be that the wiring in the assemblies were done wrong? Trying to figure this out. Thanks!!!!!

My model 9T Hampton Bay Remote doesn’t always control the fan speed , on or off mode or light?’ Sometimes it works perfect, the other times I can’t adjust the speed of the fan or shut it off, same with the light, sometimes I cannot turn it on or off with the remote? If I switch the wall switch off then turn it back on, things will return to normal for awhile and the remote works perfectly, but every once in awhile it reverts back to not working. Any assistance you can provide would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

I have a Hampton Bay Patriot 54″ Ceiling Fan, Model 694-692. This is a white fan with light kit built in at factory. No pull chains, just remote control and a reverse direction switch on the fan itself. The problem is: I have no medium speed. Press High, works fine. Press Med, it goes to low speed. Press Low, it turns fan off. Any ideas on what would be wrong??

I have a model 293 239 fan. Trying to replace the fan switch. I thought I replaced the wires one for one on a westinghouse switch 77021. Ended up with the fan only running in one position. I saw in this site that this switch will not work, need to use 77020. Went to Lowes to get another switch. They had no westinghouse switches, was told a Habor Breeze 0033905 would work. Still have the same issue. Now I’m wondering if i have the wires correct. I have a red lead, purple lead, thin black, & thick black.

I have a 7 yr old hampton bay fan with the ” hand carved” cabana style fan blades.
It recently and intermittently began to make a scraping sound while on the high setting. Home Depot in Berlin, MD states ” WE CAN’T DO ANYTHING WITHOUT A RECEIPT.” I have never kept a receipt on any of my vehicles but GM and Ford somehow know that I purchased their product. Home Depot acts as if Hampton Bay not their product line.

When I spin it without power it does not make the noise. I like the fan but not the noise. Is this just a company line from the “Home Despot” or is there any resolve.
