Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan Replacement Parts

Finding replacement parts for ceiling fans can sometimes be difficult, and at times, it may seem impossible to find the correct replacement part for your Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan. However, at hamptonbay-ceiling-fans.com we provide all of the information we can to help our readers find the proper replacement parts for their Hampton Bay Fan.

Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan Remote Control

A replacement part that does not often break, but may sometimes require replacement is the Hampton Bay remote control. The remote control comes with a battery and operates from up to 30 feet away from your ceiling fan. It has 16 different code frequencies and can control up to 16 Hampton Bay fans. With the Hampton Bay remote control you can change fan speeds, dim your lights, or turn the light on and off (provided your Harbor Breeze fan is equipped with a light kit). Changing the direction of the fan still has to be done manually, but this is something you would only typically do when the seasons change. The Hampton Bay ceiling fan remote control can be returned within 90 days of purchase.

The Hampton Bay remote control has two primary pieces … a handheld transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter is typically hand held, but it can also be mounted on your wall. The transmitter emits a signal that is sent to the receiver, which gets mounted in the in the canopy, located on top of your ceiling fan.

Hampton Bay Thermostatic Ceiling Fan and Light Remote Control

The Hampton Bay thermostatic remote control is similar to the remote control described above, but it offers more features. The thermostatic remote control can be set to turn your fan on or off, or change speeds, all based on room temperature. You can also set timers for light and fan functions to turn on or off, or lights to dim. Additionally, there is a room exit feature, which can be set to turn the light kit off when exiting a room. The Hampton Bay thermostatic remote control can be used with other brands of ceiling fans.  Similarly, other brands of thermostatic remote controls can be used with your Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan. You would just need to make sure the thermostatic remote control is compatible with your Hampton Bay fan. But, to be sure of compatibility, it is recommended to stick with the Hampton Bay brand.  <<Amazon Store link>>

Hampton Bay Light Kit

It would be very unusual for a Hampton Bay Light Kit to require replacement, but strange things do happen, and this is a Hampton Bay replacement part that can be handled fairly easily. Hampton Bay Light Kits are available in different shapes, sizes and styles.  Some light kits have globes or glass bottoms, while others may have three adjustable shades, each containing a bulb. Some Hampton Bay light kits are designed to go specifically with a particular fan while others are more generic and can be used with various fans.  Even if a Hampton Bay light kit is designed for a particular Hampton Bay fan, it can usually be mounted to a non-matching Hampton Bay fan. One thing you need to be sure of is that your ceiling fan is compatible with a light kit. Although, if you are replacing a Hampton Bay light kit, then you can be sure your ceiling fan will readily accept a replacement light kit.

Hampton Bay Replacement Fan Blades

Whether you need to replace your ceiling fan blades because one broke, or you are simply replacing them to enhance the look of your ceiling fan, Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan Replacement Blades are an excellent choice. Hampton Bay offers a series called the Combine and Design fan blades, which are hand-carved. A package of five of these fan blades are typically priced from about $37.00 to $59.99.  Before purchasing any of these fan blades, you will want to be sure the Hampton Bay fan blades are compatible with your Hampton Bay fan. You can do this by checking the SKU of the ceiling fan. Please double check, but at the time this is being written, all Combine and Design fan blades are for indoor use only.

If you find the Hampton Bay Combine and Design fan blades do not meet your needs, you may consider after market fan blades. If you check with your local Home Depot, you can likely find other fan blades that are compatible with your Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan.

Hampton Bay Fan Blade Arms

Fan blade arms are important to consider, especially when replacing your fan blades. This is especially important if you are combining after market fan blades with your Hampton Bay fan blade arms … or, vice versa … if you are combining after market fan blade arms with Hampton Bay fan blades. You need to be sure the bolt pattern (or holes) in the fan blade arm match the holes in your fan blade. You could try drilling new holes in your replacement fan blades, but this is not recommended as it would weaken the fan blade and would most likely void any warranty associated with the fan blade, fan blade arms, and possibly the ceiling fan itself.  Though Hampton Bay does not offer fan blade arms, Home Depot does offer after market fan blade arms. Prior to ordering or purchasing, be sure the holes to mount the fan blade arms as well as the holes for the fan blades align properly.

Additional Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan Replacement Parts

There are various other ceiling fan replacement parts that are not manufactured by Hampton Bay, but these after market parts can be used to repair your Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan. All of the replacement parts listed below are available at your local Home Depot, or through their website.

Some of the Hampton Bay replacement parts that you may need to consider are the following:

  • 3 Speed Ceiling Fan Switch – The 3 speed ceiling fan light switch is the pull switch connected to your fan that allows you to turn your fan on or off, or change speeds.
  • Ceiling Fan Light Switch – This it the pull switch that allows you to turn your ceiling fan light kit on or off.
  • eaded Pull Chain – This is simply the pull chain that would attach to your ceiling fan light switch or your light kit.
  • Canopy Bracket – The canopy bracket is typically required when you are mounting your Hampton Bay fan to a cathedral or angled ceiling while using a down rod.
  • Canopy Kit – The canopy kit is used when mounting your ceiling fan to an angled or cathedral ceiling, but also includes the mounting canopy along with the canopy bracket and hardware.
  • Down Rod – Down rods allow you to install your Hampton Bay fan on vaulted or high ceilings. Down rods come in a variety of lengths and finishes. You simply select the down rod that most meets your needs.
  • Down Rod Wire Extension Kit – The down rod wire extension kit provides you with the additional wire and connections you may require to mount your ceiling fan properly to a down rod.
  • Ceiling Fan Motor Screws – These after-market screws come in handy if your ceiling fan motor screws have been damaged or lost.
  • Ceiling Fan Blade Screws – Ceiling fan blade screws are obviously useful if your blade screws have been lost or damaged.

I just moved in my new home 2 montha ago that I bought from a builder that had gone out og business. My new home has several Hampton Bay fans and one of them had a bad switch that would not change the speeds. They are all “builder grade” solid white wood 52″, 5 bladed fans. They have high, medium and low speeds, off and reverse. They do not have any lights mounted. I went to Lowes to get a 3 speed replacement switch and replaced the original switch wired the same way. When I turned it back on I now have only a low and high speedand off and reverse. When I put it where med was, it goes off. Off is still off. Rev is still rev.
I did some research and saw that there is a lot of problems with replacement switches for your fans and was hoping you could send me a new switch or capacitor or whatever you think will solve it since I know the motor is fine. All the others are working great since I have been using the fans for less than 2 months. Unfortunatley since I bought the house from the bank I have no receipts for the fans or most any other items in the house. Thanks

Hello,

You may have run into a compatibility issue and should have better luck with a replacement switch from Home Depot, since Hampton Bay is Home Depot’s store brand and Hampton Bay fans are manufactured for Home Depot.

The plastic nuts that keeps the glass lamp shade tight on my Hampton Bay ceiling fan is getting brittle from the heat off the light and breaking. I am trying to find replacement parts but haven’t had much luck. Does Hampton Bay replace these free of charge? Do you know where I can get this part?

Reply

Admin October 15, 2012 at 10:39 PM

Depending upon when you purchased your ceiling fan, the nuts are probably not covered by warranty. The warranty that likely came with your ceiling fan can be found here, http://hamptonbay-ceiling-fans.com/hampton-bay-ceiling-fan-warranty/. For replacement nuts, we would recommend trying your local Home Depot. If Home Depot does not carry replacement nuts for your light kit, you can likely use after market nuts that can be used for various domes and glass lamp shades.

5 blades are better, but they use up more electricity. I don’t see why you need a 5 blade fan in your son’s room, does it really get that hot in there?

I need a Hampton Bay replacement hand held remote for a Winward IV 52″. The wires smoke when trying to use.

SKU #458-301.

How can I get this and how much will it cost.

I do not want one where I have to mess with the Ceiling Fan itself. That part is installed and doing fine.

Thanks,

Homeowner

Thanks for your response.

We checked with Home Depot but all they have are ones you have to install into the fan itself but that part is still okay…we only need a new hand held remote.

We will take your advise and call Hampton Bay Customer Support. The fan is new so not sure what happened to the remote.

Thanks again,

You may have to consider after market replacement blades for your ceiling fan. You will need to make sure the bolt pattern matches the bolt pattern on your ceiling fan arms. If you find ceiling fan blades that you really like and the bolt pattern does not match, you can also purchase after market ceiling fan arms.

We purchased a Hampton Bay 52″ Mediterranean ceiling fan approx. 3 years ago, and took it down in order to paint ceiling. When I attempted to clean the glass cover by just running water over it the paint ran completely off, and the shade which was like an aged champagne glass is now white. The base of our fan also has a glass cover in the same aged champagne glass, and I tried running that under water, but paint remained in tact. It appears that paint on shade was not baked in. We purchased the ceiling fan at Home Depot, but product is no longer available. I’m wondering if you would be able to provide replacement shade, model #404 103?

we bought a different halogen bulb, but that didn’t help, took globe off
and it seemed to be hot, so I think we are at max watt, how much will
it hold, or what else can we try

Reply

Yes, a higher wattage bulb could help, but as you are aware you do not want to go too high. Even with the proper wattage, the globe is expected to get hot. Hampton Bay customer support could possibly tell you the maximum wattage bulb allowed for your ceiling fan. They can be reached at 1-877-527-0313, M-F 8:00 AM – 6PM EST.

Hi , I have an almost new ceiling fan with light kit that I bought at Home Depot. After installing it worked just fine , about a month and a half later the light quit working out of the blue but the fan still works. Someone said it might be the capacitor in the light kit. Could this be the problem and is there a local place here in Colorado that I can purchase one.

We want to take it down but the collar doesn’t have a way to detach from the ceiling. The fan is off the pipe with the ball joint, so now just the ball joint pipe and cap are on the ceiling. How do we get the cap off to take down the unit all together?

If there are no screws holding the cap for your ceiling fan in place, it should be able to be removed by rotating a 1/4 turn or so.

I bought a house built in 2008 and need a starting capacitor. It is mounted high in the ceiling and we cannot get close enough to it to find the serial #, but the part no. might possibly be a C61 or PQC- 1 (within a circle). It is in a bronze crackle cover that attaches to the ceiling fan and below it is the light sockets and rod that holds the glass cover, chain, and decorative knob. I hope this helps. I have contacted Home Depot by phone several times, but they will not return my call (Mr. Beddingfield). I have been to my local H.D. and took the part with me. The man working in the ceiling fan dept. says they don’t make that part anymore and I’ll have to purchase a whole new fan. I have several fans in my house and they all match. I would hate to have to change out 1 fan and have an “odd-ball” in my house. Is there anyway to purchase this part and have it sent to my address? Thank you. D.Casey

Hello,

The ceiling fan lighting has just started blinking for no reason at all. I bought a whole new battery for the remote believing that it was probably a signal of a low charge in the battery in the remote itself.

After putting the new battery in, this blinking light issue has still continued. Any feedback on what could actually be causing this is appreciated.

Reply

Admin March 20, 2013 at 11:16 AM

If you have not already, and it may seem overly simple, you may want to check the light bulb itself. If the blinking issue is happening with the entire light fixture, you may want to check the electrical connection between the ceiling fan and the light fixture. Or, have you installed anything new that would affect your existing electrical circuit … the one on which you ceiling fan runs? Perhaps there is an overload on your circuit? If so, you may need to have a licensed electrician look into the problem.

There are also various web sites that sell Hampton Bay remote controls, and they also will sometimes list the serial numbers for the ceiling fans. You may also want to contact Hampton Bay customer support directly at 1-877-527-0313 M-F 8:00 AM – 6PM EST. They will be able to tell you which remote control works with which ceiling fan.

We just bought a house with Hampton bay ceiling fans. They have light switches at the wall to turn the power on and off with a remote to control the functions. We got one to work with a replacement remote but the other one won’t respond to the remote at all. I have checked the settings on the fan and the remote and they match. The fan is stuck on high with the light on and we would at least like to get the fan turned off. Home Depot was no help, any suggestions.

I purchased a Hampton Bay Milton 52 in. Indoor/Outdoor Oxide Bronze Patina Ceiling Fan, and although it is very attractive, the light that it comes with is inadequate for our lighting needs. I would like to replace the light kit with something that will light the room better.
I would assume that there are other light kits that would be compatible with my fan… or at least, that’s my hope. I would be interested in something that takes full size bulbs- and that puts out more light than the candelabra trio the Milton currently has.
I read the reviews of the fan on Home Depot’s website to see if this was a common issue, and it seems that many owners are of like mind; the fan is beautiful, but the lighting is not very bright.
I look forward to a response-thanks

We bought a 36″ San Marino a few years ago, and after a few months the light switch became a problem. It started with having to pull the chain 2 or 3 times to get the lights to come on. After installing, I didn’t want to have to disassemble and return to the store, so we’ve just lived with i, since we also left the light switched on most of the time. Now it’s not working at all, although the fan still works fine. I think it’s the switch, since it’s behaved like that all this time. Is there a replacement part for that? Can’t locate it on line.
Thanks

I have checked the voltage to the lamp at the power supply between the controller and the light. Nothing. I believe the problem is with the light control in the fan. I also put new batteries in the remote control. I removed the Fan/Light control in the fan and confirmed the dip switch settings matched the controller. Can you supply the part number for the fan/light controller, part number and where it can be purchased?

I have Hampton Bay fans in almost every room of the house. Unfortunately, I also have lots of problems and several questions…Most of the fans still work (completely using the remote controls), but somehow the remote for the bedroom no longer works. I have already tried replacing the batteries. Is there a way to reset with the receiver inside the fan? Also, the living room fans have a remote and a wall mount which can control. Recently I heard a loud pop and a strong electrical burn smell coming from the wall mount. Anytime I try using the lights/fan by remote or wall mount the electrical burn smell comes from the wall mount. Is there a way to simply replace the wall mount? Or any other suggestions? Unfortunately, all of the boxes have been thrown away so I do not have the model numbers. Is there a model # somehwere on the fans? As you can see I need lots of help!!!!

Only dipswitch #3 in the transmitter is moved forward – would a change in settings solve the problem?

All my Hampton Bay ceiling fans have shiny brass arm holders and parts. Do you sell the parts in brushed nickel so that the entire fan does not have to be replaced?

Reply

Admin April 15, 2013 at 2:51 PM

No, you do not have to replace your ceiling fan. And, yes, you can find replacement arms for your ceiling fan in brushed nickel. If you have not already checked your local Home Depot, that is one option. Another option is to check Home Depot’s website. I do not believe the replacement arms are manufactured by Hampton Bay, but third party ceiling fan arms can work with your fan. You just need to be sure the mounting bolt holes for the ceiling fan housing and the mounting bolt pattern for the fan blades match what you already have.

I like the idea but actually doing it is impossible. If you wired the lights up, when you turned the spinning lights on the wires, the wires would twist and eventually bind up to the point where it would either stop spinning, or rip the wiring, resulting in darkness. You could hack the fan to use a constant contact system like on older car horn buttons on steering wheels, but it requires a redesign of the fan. It’d be better to design a new spinning light entirely without static fan blades.

Some Home Depot stores carry replacement arms and blades for your ceiling fan. Another option would be to check the Home Depot website. There you will likely find a larger selection. You will want to ensure the bolt pattern for the mounting arms match the bolt pattern on your ceiling fan. You will also want to be sure that the fan blade size is correct for your model of ceiling fan.

To Whom It May Concern;

While installing my Hampton Bay Windward IV 52-Inch Ceiling Fan, the last thing I installed was the glass bowl. I installed the glass bowl, at least I though I did. I turn around to do something else and all I heard was the glass bowl crashing to the ground. it wasn’t secured. I’m having a hard time locating a replacement bowl can you help.

Thanking you in advance for you help in advance.

Have had my fans for about 3yrs now. They are nice but one light kit went bad cords melted d o and) replace it and the other fan light kit just stopped working. Replaced both very easily since it is a snap together design however within a week both light kits went out again… Is there a problem with the light kits on certain models… Going to replace once more if burns out again will be in market for newe fans. :o/

I bought a Springview Hampton Bay ceiling fan and light. One day after installing it, the fan suddenly stopped working. The light works fine. The fan checked out fine when I initially installed it. Any ideas?

Reply

Admin April 11, 2013 at 10:41 AM

It is strange that the ceiling fan would stop working out of the blue like that. Have you double checked the electrical connections from the install? A wire may have worked loose. If the wiring all looks secure, and your are sure power is getting to the fan, you may want to call Hampton Bay Technical Support at (877) 527-0313. They will be able to help you diagnose the problem further.

Without knowing the model number, etc. of your ceiling fan, it is not easy to determine why and which capacitors are installed in your fan. For a situation like this, you should call Hampton Bay technical support at (877) 527-0313. They will help you identity the model number of your ceiling fan, and they will be able to tell your why your fan has two capacitors and the purpose for each.

We purchased a home with 2 outdoor Hampton bay fans. 2 of the blades were broken off. They are plastic yellowish brown with a weave pattern. Numbers on the fan are 1yw2, 0020874 & 04-2006. Home depot only has white plain blades

If you cannot find the correct replacement fan blades at Home Depot, you may want to check their website. Many times the website will have more of a selection. Alternatively, you may be able to use 3rd party ceiling fan blades with your fan. You will just need to be sure the mounting bolt patterns of the blades match the mounting holes on the ceiling fan blade arms. You will also want to be sure the fan blades are the correct size. If you want to find out if Hampton Bay still offers the specific fan blades you are looking for, you may want to try contacting the Home Depot Customer Support Team. Their phone number is (877) 527-0313. Their hours are Mon – Fri 8:00 – 6:00.

I replaced the 3-way four wire switch and I still only one speed. There is a scraping sound which some times stops. I spoke to a nice salesman at Home DePot who could not offer any other suggestions. An electrician on the phone sugested there may be a problem with the motor. He asked if there was a resistor and I didn’t know. I do not remember seeing one.

Do you have replacement motors? What cost? I call the color antique bronze, but do not see this listed anong new fans. Do you call it something else now?

Hello,
My ceiling fan light frequently turns on or off without me touching the remote. It also changes speed or just turn off without me touching the remote.
Do you know if this is a remote control issue & replacing it would be a fix or does the fan need to be replaced. I’m guessing the fan is 5+ years old.
Any advise?

I need the light control for a Hampton Bay Miramar 60 inch weathered bronze ceiling fan.
Model AC374-WB
The upper light blinks ON/OFF when the control is pressed. The lower Light works most of the time. When the button on the remote is held for the upper light it is suppose to get bright then Dim to the right setting. It only blinks ON/OFF no dimming and doesn’t stay on. All of the bulbs are working. The lower light will work most of the time as designed. I think I need a new controller in the fan since the remote works fine for fan speed adjustment and lower light.
What part can I purchase and from where?

I have a hampton fan with four lights, but want to switch it to one globe style light. I purchased your “Universal ceiling fan light kit” and from the name assumed that the light’s electrical components would be an easy switch and all the necessary parts would be included. The kit does not include the all important light switch cover that would make the replacement easy. Can I buy that part or better yet, why is it not included in the “universal” kit?

I have a Hampton Bay ceiling fan model 360 396 that has lost power to the light and fan. It happened when I was trying to change one bad bulb of the two in the kit. As I was unscrewing the bulb it actually momentarily lit, then went out. Concurrently, the other bulb stopped working as did the fan. I checked the household circuit breaker and it was not tripped. Further testing revealed that there was still power to the wall switch. I disassembled the light kit to reveal the wires leading down from the fan to a series of wires leading to a “wiring harness” (plastic) and two black cubes. I assume one is a capacitor for the fan. I disconnected this harness and tested for current in the black wire feeding through the fan assembly. It was “live”. However, with the harness reconnected, there is no power in that same black wire. So I’m assuming there must be a problem with one of the two black cubes. My question is then, can I replace the harness and attached wires to repair the fan?
What happened when the power to the light and fan was lost during this event?

Without your receipts it will be difficult to prove the date of purchase for your ceiling fans. However, if you go to your local Home Depot and you have the credit card you used for the purchase, they can usually look up purchase dates of products you purchased there. This would prove that you did purchase the fans, and it would provide the date. But again, your will need the credit card you used at that time. Home Depot should then honor the warranty on the fans.

Hello. I bought my house about 3 years ago. At that time I put in 3 new ceiling fans. 2 of the 3 still work great. However the one I have to jump start it to get it to move. When you pull the switch you have to push the blades to get it to start. Also when you turn ot on low it wants to die and not turn. I was thinking that maybe it was the motor being weak or something. Do you suggest a new motor or should I just go buy a new fan?

Brady Wilson May 13, 2013 at 6:55 PM

Reply

The fact that the fan does not engage properly when turned on … it could in fact be the fan motor. If it is the motor, the motor is covered by a lifetime warranty. You can check our warranty page to see the details. But to diagnose the issue properly, you should contact Hampton Bay technical support at 1-877-527-0313 M-F 8:00 AM – 6PM EST. Not only will they be able to help you determine exactly what the problem is with your fan, they will be able to tell you if your fan is still under warranty.

The fan is five bladed and the blades are not round on the ends, rather squared off and have three in-line mounting holes in the center off the blade, not the triangular mounting hole pattern.
I would appreciate a follow-up and I can furnish photos of the fan and the blades for reference for replacements.
Again I would appreciate a follow-up, I do not want to replace a well operating fan, just the blades.

We have an installed ceiling fan and inside the housing/cowling is a wireless receiver, part number FAN28R-240W. A search of the internet implies it is a Hampton Bay/Harbor Breeze Remote Receiver. It has 16 different code frequencies (4 switches). The existing hand held remote has three fans speed buttons (plus off) and a light button that cycles the brightness of the light when held in.

I would like to get a wireless remote that mounts in a standard switch box. I can’t seem to find one that I’m certain is compatible and doesn’t include the receiver (which, of course I don’t need).

What do you suggest?

When we use the remote in one bedroom it functions the other bedroom ceiling fan also? It is a bit of a problem when someone is sleeping and you use remote to put the light on and it puts the light on overhead in the other bedroom too. How or what do we do to have the remotes function separately and independantly.

We have three Hampton Bay ceiling fans, that we purchased during a remodel approximately 9 years ago. We love them and never had any problems until the remote quit working on one of the fans. Due to the location of that fan, it was not practical to have that one not work, so we switched the internal part with another fan in the house and started looking for a replacement part for the transmitter. I contacted Hampton Bay with no success, posted a message with no success, and went to Home Depot to see what they could recommend for a replacement remote. The fellow had worked at HD for 17 years, and he said that we will not likely have any luck with a replacement transmitter or a universal remote. We ended up buying a new fan, and we are saving the old fan parts as spares.

I bought a house that has a ceiling fan with no transmitter.
I sent the receiver in and they sent it back with one. The lights and the fan goes on by itself day or nite by itself? Is it a common ocurance?

Our ceiling fan is 10 yrs old and the brackets on the blades have seemed to ‘sagged’ and are drooping… where can we get replacement blade brackets? tried calling and wasn’t able to get thru. – It would be awesome if this part was part of the Limited Warranty; but not counting on it?

My fan remote died, bought replacement didnt work, trying to get cap on cieling off but cant. Read other posts on here said 1/4 turn. Didn’t say which way, didn’t say whether it was the top ring or bowl that gets turned, didn’t say what to do when you can’t turn either of these. I don’t want to take a baseball bat to this thing in frustration so any help you might offer would be certainly appreciated.

We purchased several Hampton Bay fans in the San Juan 52″ model #360396. Vendor #11688 and UPC 282392697204 (Antique Bronze). How can we find a replacement glass shade so it still matches the other San Juan fans we have? I see others (May 8 and 9) are asking the same question but I do not see an answer. Are we to assume that we just have to hope to find something similar that will fit? Please advise.

Hello…
Just purchased a 44in Wellston Hampton Bay ceiling fan at Home Depot yesterday…
Everything was going smoothly as we were putting it up until we were getting ready to put the Light kit up and my dad jumped the gun and stripped the white and black wires (not realizing that they only plug into the fan itself. Yikes!)
We quickly went back to Home Depot to get a light kit that fits Hampton Bay ceiling fans, but it will not work for the model number 619030. Can I buy a replacement light kit specifically for this model number or do I have to buy a whole new fan?
Thanks!

I have an older Hampton Bay ceiling fan. I guess it is 20 years or older. I want to remove the light fixture from it but keep the fan. When I removed the light fixture, the fan stopped working. Both fan and lights are juiced by a single wall switch and independently control by chain pulls on the fan. Currently the blue and black feeds from the fan to the former light fixture are simply taped off and not connected to any other wires. What do I need to do to the remaining wiring in the fan do keep the fan working?
