I have a Hampton Bay ceiling fan SN 004163. It started making a small “grinding” sound in the motor. I took it down, blew it out with the air hose and put a drop or 2 of oil on the shaft (at the bearing). It worked great (quiet) for about 20 minutes and then the sound returned again. I have taken off the light kit and the blades and it satill makes the noise. It sounds as if there is a worn place or a bearing is out of round or dragging.
Can I take it apart and fix it or is this something that would be covered under the warranty?

I have a 52″ San Juan ceiling fan model 360396. The remote feature does not work and therefore the light/fan is inoperable. Batteries were changed. Still no success. The light on the remote will flash but has no effect on the fan. I can get the light to go on by flipping the wall switch off and on a few times but have no way of operating the fan. Any suggestions?

Admin November 7, 2012 at 4:12 PM

With the wall switch in the “on” position, you should be able to turn the ceiling fan on with the pull chain. But, based upon what you are saying about the wall switch, you may have an electrical issue. Also, if the ceiling fan is no longer under warranty, you could simply replace the remote control if it has gone bad.

Steve November 13, 2012 at 10:38 AM

Is there a specific hard wired control switch for the wall outlet that has to be used to dim the lights and control the speed of the fan?

Admin November 14, 2012 at 10:46 PM

You may want to take a look at Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan Wall Control, Model # 9050H. It can be found on Home Depot’s website.

We had ordered a fan on-line that had the plastic leaf blades. All the parts were packaged very well except the blades. There was no packing between the blades which caused wear marks on the visible side of the them. The blades are dark in color and the marks are white. I figure if we exchanged the fan for an identical one the blades would be worn the same way. Is there a way to just exchange the blades ? The fan is the Nassau 52 inch. SKU 129 909
Thank you.

Admin November 14, 2012 at 10:44 PM

You will likely have to exchange the entire fan. But, we understand that Hampton Bay customer support may be more flexible. Their number is 1-877-527-0313, hours are M-F 8:00 AM – 6PM EST.

Need to change out the fan but cannot get it undone from the ceiling. Advice or link to a generic installation manual would help.

Admin January 25, 2013 at 12:53 PM

Are you having trouble removing the canopy of the ceiling fan? If so, and not knowing which model ceiling fan you have, you may have two or four screws that need to be removed or loosened around the edge of the canopy. You will then likely need to rotate the canopy 1/4″ or so either in a clockwise or counter-clockwise direction. Some canopies simply need to be rotated as described and do not have the screws.

Hello ! We have two identical Hampton Bay fans in which the glass cover for the light fixture is not staying up as the screws and fixture have worn down. The serial # on the fan is 759590737130 (UPC 9807) . Are we able to get this replaced thru the warranty ?
Your assistance is greatly appreciated ! :)

Admin January 25, 2013 at 12:59 PM

Without knowing the the purchase date of your ceiling fan, it is difficult to say whether your fan is still covered by warranty. For a detailed Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan Warranty, please check our warranty page: http://hamptonbay-ceiling-fans.com/hampton-bay-ceiling-fan-warranty/. You may also want to call Hampton Bay customer support at 1-877-527-0313 to ensure you get the correct screws.

Roy Evans November 27, 2012 at 12:01 PM

The remote will not turn the fan or fan light on or off. I replaced the battery. We have five of these fans so I took another remote and changed the code to the one not working and it still would not turn the fan off. It works at the switch but not the remote. The fan is 4 1/2 years old and was put in buy my builder. I picked out the fan and he purchased them so I do not have a receipt.

Admin January 24, 2013 at 11:18 AM

This could be an issue with the receiver in your ceiling fan. Before you head to the Home Depot store, you may want to try calling Hampton Bay customer support at 1-877-527-0313.

Kurt December 13, 2012 at 8:23 PM

I have a HB that I purchased about a decade ago. Incredible fan! Never a sound, never a wobble, absolutely perfect. Until….

About a year ago, I noticed that the low setting no longer worked. Just a buzz like the motor was trying to work, but no revolutions. High and medium were still perfect. While we could live with it, a week ago the pull cord for the fan snapped out. Now, we have no fan.

Is this a warranty issue, and if so, do we simply bring it into the Home Depot for the repair? Thanks!

Admin January 25, 2013 at 1:26 PM

For the type of questions you have, and in order to properly diagnose the issues you are having with your ceiling fan, you should call Hampton Bay’s technical support line. The number is 1-877-527-0313. You can find a replacement pull switch for your ceiling fan on Home Depot’s website.

John Pituch January 2, 2013 at 11:00 PM

I have a Hampton Bay ceiling fan in my living room , kitchen and master bedroom. ALL model number 523127 windward II. The one in my living room no longer operates as a fan … only lighting functions are working. Please advise me on repair.

Admin March 20, 2013 at 11:19 AM

When you say only the lighting works with your ceiling fan, is this when operating manually or when operating with the remote control? If this happens when using your remote control, it could be a problem with the receiver installed in your fan, or with the remote control itself. A great way to help diagnose this problem is to speak with someone at Hampton Bay technical support. Their number is 1-877-527-0313.

Elizabeth January 5, 2013 at 2:28 PM

I have a Hampton Bay Garrison Gunmetal 52″ ceiling fan, which is very handsome. I like it so much I’ve been considering buying 2 more, but I am having second thoughts due to the tricky replacement parts situation. I need to buy a replacement glass light shade, but have had no luck locating one to buy. If You can help me with a website, phone number and part number, I’ll go ahead and buy 4 replacements just to be safe.

Elyce January 9, 2013 at 11:26 AM

I have a Hampton Bays ceiling fan that I purchased at Home Depot a few years ago. My contractor installed it and from day one the light never worked properly. The light would flicker off and on. I thought perhaps it was something with the wiring and figured next time my contractor was here I would ask him to look at it. My husband decided to look at it himself and he determined that there is something wrong with the actual light not the wiring from the house. I am not exactly sure of when I purchased it and can not find the receipt. I like the fixture very much but wish it was brighter. The fan I have is the one with wooden bamboo leaves and a single globe in the middle. Was wondering what my options are and how to proceed forward?

William Tietz January 12, 2013 at 3:01 PM

Do the remotes carry a lifetime warranty?

Brian January 19, 2013 at 8:46 AM

Hi – we purchased our home in 2007 with Hanpton Bay fan, which was put in 2006 when the house was remodeled by the prior owner. Just this past week the ceiling fan started to malfunction. The fan part works fine but the light goes on very dimly when turned on (less lumens than a night light). I don’t have a receipt and can eh and find the model number if helpful but does your warranty cover this defect? And, what actions should/can I take to fix this?

Admin February 1, 2013 at 9:35 AM

We would recommend contacting Hampton Bay technical support. Their number is 1-877-527-0313. They will help you identify the correct model number of your fan and they will be able to help you resolve the issue with your light.

James Cummins March 11, 2013 at 8:30 AM

I have a Hampton Bay 52″ ceiling fan Redington III model 523974 which was purchased in 2002. I am having difficult time turning on and off the light or fan using the remote. I have to hold the light button long to get it turn on and be about a couple of feets from the fan. I have the receipt. Is this cover by warranty ? Please advice.

Admin March 20, 2013 at 12:12 PM

If the remote control for your ceiling fan seems to work fine as long as you are close to the fan, but does not work if you move further away, the issue is likely the battery in the remote control itself. Have you checked the battery in the remote control? Regarding warranty coverage, that would depend upon how long ago you purchased the ceiling fan and which parts, if any, are failing. If you have changed batteries and are still having issues, you may want to contact the Hampton Bay customer care team at 877-527-0313.

June March 17, 2013 at 8:51 PM

My son and I installed a midili 44″ ceiling fan with remote control about a year ago. About a month ago the fan and light stopped working. We changed the batteries in the remote. The red light on the remote goes on when you press the buttons, but nothing happens with the light or fan. Please advise. Thank you.

Admin April 11, 2013 at 1:16 PM

If the remote control stopped working with the ceiling fan and you installed fresh batteries, it may be easiest to call Hampton Bay technical support at (877) 527-0313. They will be able to help you diagnose the problem.

Misty March 26, 2013 at 10:48 PM

I have purchased a Hampton Bay fan for my new home, and was wondering where to purchase the remote for the fan?

Admin April 11, 2013 at 10:21 AM

You can find a compatible remote control for your ceiling fan either in your local Home Depot store, or on their website. You will want to make sure the remote control you select is compatible with your fan. If you need help with this, you may want to speak with someone at Hampton Bay Customer Support. Their number is 1-877-527-0313 and their hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 6PM EST.

Admin April 11, 2013 at 12:54 PM

You can find a remote control for your ceiling fan at your local Home Depot store or on the Home Depot website. You will just need to make sure that the remote control you purchase is compatible with the fan.

I’m very frustrated! Do not have my receipt or warranty info and probably going to be told “Oh Well, You’re screwed!” by HB fans, but this is my 1st line of defense. I have 5 fans in my house. 2 Hunters, 2 unknown brands (been in the house since I moved in in 1998) and the Hampton Bay I put in the living room about 6 or 7 years ago. All the of the other fans run fine, and have never had an issue. The newest one is the one I put in my living room some maybe 7 years ago. If memory serves me correct, it is a 71″ fan. The biggest I could find at the time. A 5 blade, 3 speed with light kit and remote control.

The complaints I have, seem to be consistent with other people. It had started with a squealing sound at all speeds that would not be heard when first started, but would gradually get louder. Now will barely operate at medium speed, and not at low speeds.
When turned on high, squeaks after lie 5 minutes. Turn off, will not rotate in low, barely while in medium. Argh!!!!!
I remember buying it from a home improvement store, but had thought I purchased at Lowes and not Home Depot. Both are close to me, but I usually frequent Lowes. But if HB fans are exclusive to Home Depot, then I guess I bought it from Home Depot and not Lowes. Regardless, I did not save my receipt or box.

So HB…am I as I predicted…Screwed???

Can I register my warranty on-line for my new ceiling fan?

Kevin Lee April 8, 2013 at 12:13 PM

I have hampton bay ceiling fan 52′ windward IV Sku 458-301 looking for to buy the golbe glass replacement can you tell me where I can get it

Admin April 11, 2013 at 10:48 AM

Sometimes you are able to find the correct or compatible replacement globe for your light kit in the Home Depot store. You could also check their website, but that may be a little more difficult. Another option would be to contact Hampton Bay Customer Support at 877-527-0313. They should be able to help you locate and secure the correct replacement globe.

John Brearley April 28, 2013 at 4:04 PM

We have a hampton ceiling fan with remote control. After cleaning the fan we could not get the fan to work eother via the remote or the pull switch. The light works now only with the pull switch but not the remote.
what do you think the issue is?

Jim Ackley May 2, 2013 at 3:17 PM

I have a Hampton Bay fan Miramar 60″ model 133715. The remote works on another fan in the house when I change the dip switches to that fan, the problem seems to be the reciever in the Miramar fan doesn’t want to work, the up and down lights were the first to indicate a problem, changed the battery but no help. now the entire fan is inoperable, changed the battery again with no results, reprogramed the other fan remote to match the Miramar switches and still no go. Is the eletronic brain covered under the “life time warranty” ?
Home Depot people don’t have a clue.

Admin May 21, 2013 at 9:23 AM

A copy of the current Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan Warranty can be found here: http://hamptonbay-ceiling-fans.com/hampton-bay-ceiling-fan-warranty. You will notice that only the motor is covered by a limited life time warranty. It looks like the “brain” is only covered by a one year warranty – from the date of purchase. One thing though, you may want to contact Hampton Bay customer support at (877) 527-0313. They will be able to further assist in diagnosing the problem, as well as providing guidance in determining the best course of action to get your issue resolved.

Ann May 2, 2013 at 3:54 PM

We have a Southwind Ceiling Fan – 52″, Model 24454. We purchased it from Home Depot last summer, but over the winter it stopped working. We finally had someone in to double check the wiring, and apparently the wiring is all fine. When you turn it on it will go very very slowly.

We checked with Home Depot but they didn’t seem to want to exchange the fan for us. Is there any way to deal with Hampton Bay directly? I would honestly rather deal with Home Depot so I don’t have to pay for shipping – I’m really not sure what to do!

Ashley Shaw May 11, 2013 at 9:59 AM

We bought our Hampton Bay fan in about 2009. Now the motor is burned up. Is this still covered under warranty? I have no idea where my receipt is. How can I find out this information? Thanks for your help.

Robert Dawkins May 11, 2013 at 1:51 PM

I have a fan (model AC 5520D, SN 000256) that has a siezed motor. The motor won’t turn freely and the fan does not function when turned on. The fan was purchased on March 2008. Is this a warranty replacement?

bob f May 12, 2013 at 3:26 PM

I need to replace a remote on my Hampton Bay ceiling fan, I purchased a universal remote from home depot. When I took the fan apart the wires are plugged into the existing remote, the new remote has three wires, how do I connect these.

Admin May 21, 2013 at 9:46 AM

Not sure if Home Depot or Hampton Bay Technical Support will be able to assist with a universal remote control. Were you not able to find a Hampton Bay remote control? If you were not able to find one in the Home Depot store, Hampton Bay remote controls are sold on their website. You can also find them on third party websites as well. If you would like to talk to Hampton Bay support, their number is (877) 527-0313.

Denise May 20, 2013 at 8:10 PM

I have a Cameron II plus UPC 082393372545 and while unscrewing a lightbulb, the metal piece inside the ceramic/porcelain socket in the light housing came out. So there is nothing to screw the new light bulb into. Is there a way to get the metal fitting to stick back into the socket? The socket is surrounded by the metal housing on the fan, so there’s no wiggle room to look and see if the socket will come out. Any suggestions?

Allen Elwood June 3, 2013 at 12:50 PM

I purchased a fan at home depot on clearance for a great price about a week ago, installed it, threw away the boxes and receipt satisfied that everything was ok.

Two days ago the fan stopped working. Yesterday the lights no longer work as well. I was able to use a multimeter checking the voltages to find that a part with the model number of UC7051R is getting 120v input, but doesn’t have any output.

I like this light, and don’t want to have the hassle of removing it and returning it *especially since I can only get store credit since I tossed the receipt*, plus I know this was the last one they had.

Is there anyway I can get a replacement part for it? I have removed it and just need the part number to fix the fan.

I know I saw something in the instructions about a phone number to call if there were any missing parts, but I threw that away since it worked fine a week ago. Now I’m wishing I hadn’t…

Janet Robinson June 6, 2013 at 5:29 PM

I am trying to find the replacement “receiver” for the light portion of the Hampton Bay Fan, SKU 524-606. The fan works fine with the remote control. Apparently, this has happened to quite a few people, and the Home Depot people refer you back to Hampton Bay, and Hampton Bay refers you to Home Depot. We have 3 of these fans, and by changing things around, we have definitely pinpointed the problem is the receiver in the one fan.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Sandy K June 12, 2013 at 6:12 PM

My fan is operated by a remote. The batteries are good. The fan stops working for no reason. Sometimes it last a day & other times for weeks, then all of a sudden it will work again. Any ideas why this happens or how to correct it? The remote is the one where you can set the temp & lighting.

John VanCuran July 16, 2013 at 11:38 AM
